Hi Folks,
I guess you have noticed the lack of inactivity at PKP (PK Pounceworks) website for the last few months. For the last few months the development of PKP has been mainly concentrated inside the SL World.
Enchanted Christmas Tree
During September to October, the development of the new 2008 "Enchanted Christmas Tree"paid off big time. The tree peaked to the Number 1 status rank during the first week of December on Xstreet SL. For comparison, in 2007 edition of the tree preaked at Number 3. So we are joyed to get to Number 1 in XSL, which is a tough thing to do. You can view the product here: http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=992326

PKP Timed Random Presents Giver
During November, a new PKP product called "PKP Timed Random Presents Giver" was created. The product gives presents or money to people in the defined sensor range. The product is configureable in many ways. I would like to thank Vickijo Rivera for her suggestion in creating the product. You can view the product here: http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=1029896
Retex
During December, saw the creation of a new interesting product called "Retex". This product allows you to retexture your SL Land/Terrain. You do not have to be a sim owner, this product works on mainland as well. Although it does have limitations, but any texture is possible. If you visit the PKP shop, you can see the terrain change to a different texture, plus play with the demo of Retex. You can view the product here: http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=1106930
LL Prize Competition
Due to the announcement of Linden Prize competition (http://lindenlab.com/lindenprize), we thought to give a competition a try. During December to January, we worked on 3 ideas for the competition. Without going into great detail, the ideas were the following:
- Help Centre : Using SL to improve the help centre experience for customers.
- SLEK : PKP Windows software product to help disabled people.
- MySL World : Ideas to make the SL Viewer more informative to users.
We are hoping that all 3 ideas will do well in the competition. Although we won't found out how they went until the end of April.
VK-DBMS-VM Subsystems - Collections, Arrays, OO/Classes
At the end of October 2008, Very Keynes released a new LSL Library code to allow scripters to easily store data inside a script. The VK-DBMS-VM (Very Keynes - DataBase Management System - Virtual Machine) is a powerful library which can be used in a variety of products that need to store list of things. Its functions allow the scripter to add/update/delete into several different lists without having to worry about manipulating the lists using LL different List functions. Dozens of scripters are seeing the benefits of the system and are making products much more quickly using the library.
You can read more about it here: http://forums.secondlife.com/showthread.php?t=290413
With further documentation at: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=d79kx35_26df2pbbd8
Due to power of the VK-DBMS-VM library, it has spawed 3 new subsystems which allow new concepts to be added to the LSL Scripting language. The subsystems are the following:
>> Collections - Abiltiy to store and retrieve items from a list via a Key name or Index number.

PKP New Shop
During January to February saw the development of the new PKP in-world shop. We wanted to make a shop that is different, informative, and entertaining.
All the PKP products are on display in the shop. The shop has been split up into several sections:
You can visit the shop at: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Halfmoon/130/207/138/

New Website Server
Prior to 2009-03-05, the PKP website was being hosted on another website server run by someone else. This other server is planned to be closed, so the PKP website had to moved to a new place. This new website server which is on a VPS system is being hosted at Knownhost (http://knownhost.com/). And I do say their systems are very stable, with very little downtime. If you are looking for a place to host a website, I would recommend them. Their support team is great, and they do answer queries rapidly and clearly.
New Image Gallery
A brand new image gallery have been installed into PKP. This shows various Second Life pictures that have been taken over the years.:
- Romantica Yacht Club - Pictures taken from Live Music Events from top SL muisc performers.
- Weddings - Pictures taken at wedding events.
- Funny Pictures - Collection of pictures that would make you laugh!
- Beach - Pictures taken from beach / sea events.
- Fashion Shows - Pictures taken from fashion shows.
- Kala Pixie - Pictures from Kala Pixie Particle Shows...much better to see the shows live!
- PK Pounceworks - PKP various pictures.
New Shoutbox
A new shoutbox has been added to the website, allowing registered users to have quick chat conversations.
If you are asking technical questions, its sometimes better to post them in the forum.
Forum Changes
The PKP Forum has been upgraded, and a new Wings 3D Section has been added.
Omei Turnbull is now a moderator of that section, and will answer your Wings 3D Sculpty Plug-in questions.
PKP Website Changes
Over the new few weeks the PKP website will be updated with the following changes:
Although one of the changes recently made is the new PKP logo. This is present across the shop, and XSL website.
Remember, if you register into the PKP website you can submit your own SL software, guides, links, or anything SL related.
Have fun. :)
